Terms of Service
Last updated: 23 September 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and us when you download Grapple, create a Grapple account or subscribe to Grapple Pro. We have written them to be read, so please read them. If anything here is unclear, email support@getgrapple.io and we will explain it.
1. Who you are dealing with
Grapple is sold by a company registered in the Netherlands with the Chamber of Commerce and registered for VAT. For our registered name, address, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number and VAT number, email support@getgrapple.io and we will send them to you.
2. What Grapple is
Grapple is an app for Apple Silicon Macs that runs Windows® games and programs on macOS. It does not run Windows and it does not need a Windows licence: it translates Windows programs so they run directly on your Mac. Each group of games runs in its own isolated Windows environment, which Grapple creates for you.
Grapple does not include, sell or supply any games. You bring your own. “The Service” in these terms means the Grapple app, the Grapple account on this website, and the licence checks that connect the two.
3. The Free plan
Free runs one game, forever. You do not need an account and you do not need to give us a payment method. The game is claimed the first time you play it, and you can swap it for a different one once every 30 days. Launchers — Steam, GOG Galaxy, the Epic Games Launcher — the helper processes they start, and Windows tools such as mod managers never count as your game, and there is no limit on how many launchers you set up. The full engine, including DirectX 9 to 12, is part of the Free plan.
There is no trial subscription, because the Free plan is the trial. It lets you confirm that the game you care about actually runs on your own Mac before you pay us anything.
4. Grapple Pro
Pro removes the one-game limit: every game you own, on up to 3 Macs at a time, with priority support. It costs €3.99 per month or €39 per year, and you can cancel any time. Features we describe as “coming soon” are not part of what you are buying today; you are buying Pro as it is when you subscribe.
5. Your account and your licence key
- You need to be at least 16 years old to hold an account. If you are younger, a parent or guardian has to agree to these terms and hold the account for you.
- Give us an email address you can actually receive mail at: it is how we send password resets and notices.
- Your account carries one licence key. Keep it to yourself. It activates up to 3 Macs at a time, and you can free up a slot whenever you like from your account page.
- Grapple checks your licence about once a week and keeps working for 14 days without an internet connection, so a flaky connection does not stop you playing.
- Anything done through your account is treated as done by you. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has got in.
6. Price, payment and renewal
- Prices are in euros and include VAT for consumers in the EU. The exact amount you will be charged, including any local tax, is shown at checkout before you pay.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; Stripe does. Your invoices are available from Manage billing on your account page.
- A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period — every month or every year — until you cancel, and we charge the payment method you saved at checkout.
- If we change the price, we will email you at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you can cancel before then so that it never does. We will never change the price of a period you have already paid for.
- If a payment fails, Stripe retries it. Pro keeps working for 7 days after the due date, and then your account drops back to Free until the payment goes through. Nothing is deleted: your account, your licence key, your games and their settings stay exactly where they are.
7. Cancelling, and changing your mind
You can cancel any time from Manage billing on your account page. There is no cancellation fee and no notice period. Pro keeps running until the end of the period you have already paid for, and then your account goes back to the Free plan and its one game.
Separately from cancelling, EU consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal on a new subscription — a full refund, no reason needed. How that works, and how to use it, is set out in our Refunds & withdrawal policy.
8. The games you run
You must own the games and programs you run with Grapple, and have the right to use them. Grapple is a way to run software you already have; it is not a way to get software. You will need your own accounts with Steam, GOG or Epic, and your agreement with each of them is between you and them, not with us.
You must not use Grapple to get around copy protection or digital rights management, to run software you are not entitled to run, or to infringe anyone's copyright.
9. What we do not promise
We do not promise that any particular game or program will run. Compatibility varies enormously by title, by how new the game's renderer is, and by which Mac you have. We test games one at a time on real Macs and publish each result, and a game is only marked as working after we have played it. Everything else is untested, which is not the same as broken — but it is not a promise either.
- Games that use kernel-level anti-cheat will not run, and we do not expect that to change.
- Grapple can install Steam, GOG Galaxy and the Epic Games Launcher for you. We have tested that those launchers install and open at their sign-in screens. We have not tested signing in to GOG or Epic, or downloading, installing or playing games through them, so we do not claim any of that works.
- Grapple needs an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later, with Rosetta 2 installed. Intel Macs are not supported.
- We may change, improve or discontinue parts of Grapple. If we remove something significant that you are paying for, we will tell you, and you can cancel and get back the unused part of what you paid.
The Free plan exists precisely so that you can find out where your game falls before you spend anything.
10. Using Grapple fairly
Please do not:
- share, sell or publish your licence key, or try to work around the 3-Mac limit or the licence checks;
- resell Grapple, rent it out, or pass it off as your own product;
- attack, overload or probe our systems, or try to get at other people's accounts;
- use Grapple to break the law or to infringe someone else's rights.
11. The software that comes with Grapple
While these terms apply, you have a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use Grapple on your own Macs. We keep the ownership of Grapple itself.
Grapple is built on open-source software, each component under its own licence — nothing in these terms takes away or limits your rights under those licences, including your right to obtain the corresponding source code. Grapple also includes Apple's D3DMetal. See Open-source licences for the full list and for the source code.
12. If something goes wrong: what we are responsible for
Nothing in these terms takes away or limits the rights you have as a consumer under Dutch law or under the law of the country you live in. Where anything here conflicts with those rights, your rights win.
Grapple has to be what we said it is. Under Dutch law — Book 7 of the Civil Code, which implements the EU rules on digital content and services — what we supply has to match its description and work as you can reasonably expect it to. If it does not, you can ask us to put it right. If we cannot, or do not do so within a reasonable time, you can ask for a reduction in price, or end the subscription and get your money back for what you did not receive. Start by emailing support@getgrapple.io; we would much rather fix it.
When we are liable. We are liable for damage we cause by failing to meet our obligations under these terms. We place no limit at all on that liability where the damage results from intent or conscious recklessness on our part, where it concerns death or personal injury, or in any other case where Dutch law does not permit us to limit it.
When we are not. We are not liable for damage that was not a reasonably foreseeable result of our failure, or for damage caused by things that are not part of Grapple: the games themselves, your Mac and its operating system, the launchers and online services you sign in to, other software you install, or changes made by Apple or by a game's publisher. Grapple runs software written for another operating system, so please keep backups of anything you would be upset to lose, save games included.
If you are not a consumer. If you subscribe for a business rather than as a consumer, the consumer protections described above do not apply to you, we are not liable for lost profit, lost revenue or lost data, and our total liability to you for any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.
13. Suspending or closing an account
You can close your account whenever you like — email support@getgrapple.io and we will delete it. We may suspend or close an account that seriously breaches these terms, such as sharing licence keys or attacking our systems. We will tell you why and give you a chance to put it right first, unless we cannot safely wait. If we close your account and it was not your fault, we refund the unused part of what you paid.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will email you at least 30 days before a material change takes effect. If you do not want to accept it, cancel before it takes effect and it will not apply to you.
15. Which law applies, and how to complain
Start with us. Email support@getgrapple.io and tell us what went wrong. We answer every complaint, normally within five working days, and we aim to settle it within 14 days.
Dutch law applies to these terms. If you are a consumer, that choice cannot take away the protection given to you by the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in — you keep whichever protection is stronger.
If we cannot sort it out between us, you can go to court. As a consumer you can always bring a claim in the courts of the country you live in, and you can only be sued there. In any other case, the competent court is the Dutch court for the district where we are registered.
We have not committed to any certified alternative dispute resolution body, so we are not obliged to use one. If you would like an independent body to look at a dispute, propose one and we will consider it seriously.
The European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform, which terms of service have linked to for years, closed on 20 July 2025 and no longer exists. If you are a consumer in the EU, Norway or Iceland buying from a trader in another country, your national European Consumer Centre will help you for free: eccnet.eu, or in the Netherlands eccnederland.nl. The Commission's own guidance on consumer redress is at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu.
