Can you play Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on a Mac?
Short answer: Not GTA Online — it needs BattlEye, a kernel-level anti-cheat, and Rockstar says GTA Online doesn't work on Steam Deck, which runs games through Wine-based Proton. Story Mode is the open question; nobody has run it with Grapple yet.
What we know
Steam lists Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced for Windows only. Its requirements name GPUs but no DirectX version for graphics.
Steam's store page discloses that it uses a kernel level anti-cheat, BattlEye, which must be removed manually after uninstalling, and that it requires a Rockstar Games account (Supports Linking to Steam Account).
When Rockstar added BattlEye in September 2024, its FAQ said: "Steam Deck does not support BattlEye for GTA Online. You will be able to play GTAV Story Mode but unable to play GTA Online." Steam Deck runs Windows games through Proton, which is built on Wine like Grapple. AreWeAntiCheatYet lists Grand Theft Auto V as denied on Linux/Proton.
So GTA Online is out. Whether Story Mode starts through Grapple is exactly what a test has to show — we haven't run it.

FAQ
Can I play Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on a Mac?
Won't run. BattlEye loads a kernel-mode driver on Windows, and Grapple runs Windows programs without a Windows kernel — there's nothing for that driver to load into. No setting changes this; only the game's developer can. That's what the game's published facts suggest, not a result. We publish a verified status only after running the game on a real Mac.
Is there a Mac version of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced?
Steam doesn't offer a macOS build of Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced; it's listed for Windows only.
How can I try Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced myself?
